Instructor Robyn

For those of you who don’t know me yet, My name Robyn, let me share a little bit about how line dancing sashayed its way onto my resume… πŸ‘ βœ¨

🌟 It all began in 1983…
At the ripe old age of 13 (yep, I’m now 56! πŸ™ˆ), I was just a sporty teen with super busy parents β€” so I spent heaps of time with my beautiful mum, Gina. And looking back now, those days were pure gold! πŸ’›

Mum, a businesswoman and total community legend in Onehunga, Auckland NZ πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ, loved her fitness and fun. She was always at the local hall doing classes like Jazzercize and Jazzergetics β€” part of the iconic Les Mills fitness revolution! πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ’₯

Meanwhile, I’d be sitting at the back sulking (because hanging out with your mum wasn’t cool 😎), doing homework, or rolling my eyes. BUT β€” being of proud Polynesian heritage 🌺 β€” rhythm, music, and dance have always been in my blood. It wasn’t long before I thought: β€œIf I have to be here, I may as well join in!”

Instructor Erin

Hi, I’m Erin! How on earth did I get here? πŸ˜‚ πŸ’›

Well, my πŸ‘’line dancing obsession started off with a severe case of FOMO and not wanting to miss out on a social morning with a group of friends. πŸ‘

In 2024 Robyn held some pop up classes in Cleveland. A group of friends asked me to come along, which I reluctantly agreed to, not wanting to miss out on a bit of fun, even though I dislike Country music and I wouldn’t have thought line dancing would be for me in a million years!

I hated my first class πŸ˜‚ I couldn’t remember the steps, every time I thought I had it, I’d stuff up and forget what came next! It was horrible! So of course I went along again to the second pop up class lol. This time was not much better, nor was the 3rd or 4th. But I persisted, and by the time my 6th class rolled around and my first SSS Social, I felt a fire light inside me. πŸŒŸπŸ’•

Instructor Kylie

Hi, my name is Kylie and you’ll find me on the dance floor in Wynnum, Coorparoo, Manly and Sandgate. πŸ‘’

My line dancing journey started slowly – if I am really honest when Robyn first reached out to me and asked me to try line dancing my instant response was “Yeah, no thanks – it’s not for me” Thank goodness for Robyn’s persistence, she reached out again and gently suggested I take Madi, my daughter along for a class because Madi would love it. Reluctantly I gave in and Madi and I headed to our first class. The rest as they say is history! πŸ’•

We started with one class per week, where I hid in the far back corner hoping to go unnoticed. Soon, one class turned into two, then three, and eventually fourβ€”we were hooked! πŸ‘

I completed a Line Dancing Instructor Course to gain more knowledge also to understand how to read step sheets. Over time, I went from teaching one dance per class to now teaching four classes, transforming my journey from β€œnot my thing” πŸ˜‚ to leading classes and events.
